Metabolic Profiles and Biomarkers in Early Drug Development

This tutorial shows how Metabonomics, Metabolomics or Metabolic Profiling are applied in early drug development. On the one hand, the methods applied in metabonomics are briefly explained. On the other hand, serveral examples are shown, which demonstrate the practical application of Metabonomics in several phases of drug development. The examples shown are from metabonomic studies performed in the metabonomics group at F Hoffmann-La Roche in Basel. The examples of this tutorial have been presented at the "Biomarker World Congress 2005" in Philadelphia and at other conferences.
